A shocking new report claims that despite reportedly making up and getting along better than ever before, things are once again tense between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

According to a report in OK! Magazine (via New Idea), a new battle has exploded between the two Duchesses, and that things exploded in the lead up to Markle’s recent birthday. According to the report, Markle wanted some credit for her recent stint as a guest editor for British Vogue, but her sister-in-law was angered by what she allegedly saw as “perceived slights.”

“Word is Kate was seething and couldn’t wait to give Meghan a piece of her mind,” a source told the publication. “Meghan had been looking forward to a warm intimate affair with her loved ones but in the end, it was more of a showdown.”

It comes after Middleton was criticized for how the Instagram account she and Prince William run acknowledged Markle’s birthday, which royal fans claimed showed a “lack of class.”

The image that was chosen featured Markle alongside her husband, Prince Harry, Middleton, Prince Charles and Prince William.

It all also comes after reports claimed the two women were getting along better than ever after Markle became a first-time mom. Sources told People Magazine in July that there was a general sense their relationship had strengthened in the time since Markle welcomed son Archie Harrison in May.

“There is a sense of [Meghan and Kate’s] relationship strengthening,” a source told the publication at the time. “They’re each a little more relaxed. They have more in common now.”

“It illustrated a warm relationship between these women who have young babies and are in similar situations in their lives,” royal commentator Victoria Arbiter added.
