Fans of the Brown Family from TLC’s “Sister Wives” have been following them for years and constantly speculating on the state of Kody Brown’s four marriages, especially with his first wife, Meri. Now, following 2021 coming to a close with a shocking announcement that he and his third wife, Christine, were the ones who were actually splitting up, fans may be curious to see how his other relationships are faring.

News broke in November that Christine, who married Kody in 1994, had left her husband, with whom she had a spiritual marriage. She shared a statement on Instagram, but it was stated that the couple would not be commenting on the news, with the reasons for their split likely playing out on the newest season of their show, which began airing a few weeks later.

Since episodes aired, it’s become clear that the couple has had a slew of issues, including a disagreement over living in Utah again after polygamy was decriminalized—Christine moved back to the state following her separation while the rest of the family remained in Arizona—as well as how to handle the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“Kody and I have been struggling for a while. We’re not close. It was actually painful, emotionally to be there, to be honest,” Christine admitted in an episode. “It’s hard to see him with everybody. It’s really hard to see him in functional marriages when we don’t have one. It sucks.”

Since then, it has also been reported that both Meri and Janell, his first and second wives, whom Kody is also in spiritual unions with, are “reevaluating” their status in their plural marriages, indicating they too could soon make plans to leave, with, unsurprisingly, Meri’s name popping up as the wife most likely to leave next, as she and Kody have not had a real relationship for years.

“She and Kody have had zero relationship—it's all fake,” a source told Us Weekly in November. “They’re together for TV, essentially.”

Meri has not shared any posts regarding her husband on her Instagram account, where she is an active user, since December 2020. In addition, in a preview for the upcoming Jan. 9 episode, she seems to indicate that Kody flat out told her they would never have a romantic relationship again.

“No, I don’t feel like I am part of the Brown family. It’s this weird thing. Am I a sister wife when I don’t have a husband? And I have a husband, technically, but do I?... it’s weird,” she says in the clip, which was provided to Us Weekly.

As for his other wives, Kody has also struggled with Janelle, though the two seem to be on more solid ground. He and Robin, his fourth and only legal wife, also seem to be in a good place.

“Sister Wives” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on TLC.
