As everyone gathers together for the Thanksgiving holiday and celebrates time with their families over turkey and other large meals, fans of the daytime soap operas will need to take a break from some of their favorite shows, as not all are airing during the holiday.

According to local schedules for ABC, CBS and NBC, “General Hospital,” “The Young and the Restless,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Days of Our Lives” are all going to face some adjustments to their schedules due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

On NBC, “Days of Our Lives” will be preempted on both Thursday and Friday for special coverage. On Thanksgiving Day, the network will broadcast the National Dog Show in the soap’s place. The annual show will feature over 2000 canines as they compete for the title of “Best in Show.” Following that, there will be a re-broadcast of the 93rd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year’s parade will feature new balloons and entertainment. The new balloons include “Green Eggs and Ham,” “Love Flies Up To The Sky,” “Smokey Bear,” and “Spongebob Squarepants and Gary.” In addition, new floats will also debut, including “Blue’s Clues and You,” “Home Sweet Home,” “Rexy In The City,” “The Brick-Changer” and “Toy House of Marvelous Milestones.”

Meanwhile, on Friday, an NHL game between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins at 1 p.m. EST resulted in an episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” airing at 12 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, over on CBS, “The Young and the Restless” is set to still air as regularly scheduled both days, at 12:30 p.m. EST. A special Thanksgiving episode will take place during Friday’s broadcast. As for “The Bold and the Beautiful,” a new episode is set to air on Thursday, but the show will be pre-empted on Friday. According to the CBS schedule, instead of the daily soap at 1:30 p.m., the network will air “CBS Sports Spectacular: College Football’s 10 Greatest Wide Receivers.”

As for ABC, “General Hospital” will air a new episode on Thanksgiving, but will be pre-empted on Friday for “College Football Scoreboard.”

The schedule is expected to resume as normal following the holiday.
