  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang expected to stay at Emirates Stadium
  • Aubameyang in advanced talks with Gunners on a three-year deal
  • Aubameyang should be offered a similar deal to the one given to Ozil in 2018

Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang is expected to make his decision soon and recent updates point to the Gabon national staying at Emirates Stadium. Details have yet to be revealed but a legendary goalkeeper feels that it should be an offer that the 31-year-old will find hard to refuse.

According to Sky Sports, Aubameyang is nearing an agreement on an extension. The Gabon captain's contract does not run out for another 12 months but the Gunners know that they need to put on a lock on Aubameyang as early as now. Several teams are pursuing the 31-year-old, most notably FC Barcelona.

Former Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman is the latest one to say that the Gunners need to keep Aubameyang at all costs. As far as he is concerned, Arsenal may want to offer something similar to what Mesut Ozil got in 2018. Seaman gave his take on The Gary Newbon Sports Show.

“So make him an offer he can't refuse. They did it with Ozil, so why not do it with our best player," Seaman said. “He is looking at his last contract realistically, he is 31, and if he gets a three or four-year deal he is going to be set. So it's vitally important.”

To recall, the Gunners made sure that Ozil was not going anywhere offering him lucrative terms at the time. For Seaman, this is practically the same situation that Aubameyang is in. Hence, he believes the Gunners need to pull out all the stops to make sure that the Gabonese do not leave Emirates Stadium.

Beyond Aubameyang, Seaman also feels that Gunners management should through their full support to Mikel Arteta's plans this summer. After copping the FA Cup, the former goalkeeper believes it is time to take everything to another level.

“He will obviously have ideas of players that he wants to come in and who he wants to get out, but the board have got to back him. Because if they don't, Arsenal will just be doing what they're doing," Seaman said.

Arteta does have his work cut out for him as he continues to improve the club. But with a limited budget, the Spanish coach needs to do away with the inefficient players and take in new ones. But without proper backing, Arteta will need to find a way to make it all work.
