Although most world leaders have some kind of an opinion about President Donald Trump, they have been civil enough to keep those opinions to themselves or at least not express them out loud in a room full of journalists. Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull did not hold back his criticism of the president during the Parliament House's annual Mid Winter Ball in Canberra, Australia, Wednesday, when he roasted him in front of the press.

The audio of Turnbull’s address, which typically remains confidential, was leaked by 9News reporter Laurie Oakes. In the audio of the leak, Turnbull appeared to have a carefree attitude, since the event was supposed to be off-record, as he proceeded to refer to a couple of interactions with Trump, none of which were particularly comfortable, 9News reported.

Turnbull is heard making fun of a meeting with the POTUS, which took place in May 2017, whose primary agenda was to smoothen out the differences that had cropped up between the two leaders after Trump hung up on Turnbull after a heated argument in January 2017, 9News reported. However, from his sarcastic remarks about the meeting, it seemed less-likely that the meeting was a comfortable one.

"It was beautiful. It was the most beautiful putting-me-at-ease ever," Turnbull said, as the crowd erupted in laughter.

The Australian Prime Minister went on a roll after that remark, poking fun at Trump’s repeated insistence that his dropping approval ratings was “fake news.” He even mimicked Trump’s preferred style of giving speeches.

“The Donald and I, we are winning and winning in the polls. We are winning so much. We are winning like we have never won before. We are winning in the polls. We are! We are! Not the fake polls, not the fake polls, they're the ones we're not winning in. We're winning in the real polls. You know, the online polls. They are so easy to win. I know that. Did you know that? I kind of know that. They are so easy to win,” he stated.

Turnbull also called Trump “this Russian guy,” during his address, implying that he is well aware of FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign for possible collusions with the Russians.

Trump has never appreciated jokes being cracked at his expense by the late night hosts, be it Alec Baldwin impersonating him in “Saturday Night Live” or Stephen Colbert turning the president’s policy decisions on their heads. The business mogul-turned-president did not enjoybeing roasted even before being appointed to office. In another instance, back in 2011, when comedian and talk show host Seth Meyers roasted Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, a steely-faced Trump sat in the audience, indicating his disapproval.

“Donald Trump has been saying that he will run for president as a Republican, which is surprising since I just assumed he was running as a joke,” said Meyers, a statement that is still remembered by comedy-lovers to this day, Vulture reported.

Neither Trump nor Turnbull have formally released a statement about the leaked audio. Most people on social media have condemned Turnbull’s roast of Trump.
