Developer Tantsissa is rolling out a new version of its sleep tracking app for iOS devices, AutoSleep. Version 5.0 comes with new features and changes that improve the user experience of the third-party app.

AutoSleep 5 is the biggest update released for the app thus far. It makes the app much faster, simpler and more accurate. It also introduces a new “live” sleep tracking feature that turns on automatically. Thus, users no longer need to press anything just to activate the sleep tracker.

Previously, users had to turn on the tracking feature by syncing the app on the Apple Watch to their iPhone. Establishing such a connection would enable users to review calculated sleep metrics. With version 5.0 however, users can now automatically track sleep quality and duration without the need of using an iPhone.

A nice addition to AutoSleep is support for iPhone X. What this does is allow the app’s user interface to now fully cover the unconventional form of the iPhone X’s display. Hence, the UI now extends to the gaps on either side of the notch that Apple refers to as “ears.”

This makes AutoSleep the latest app to get iPhone X support. Previously, Microsoft updated its Edge mobile browser to support the full display of the 10th anniversary iPhone. Prior this, the company also tweaked its Skype app for iOS to make use of the space surrounding the notch of the iPhone X.

MacRumors has learned that Tantsissa also modified the Lights Off feature of AutoSleep. The updated Lights Off now features muted colors so users would find it easy to view the app at night. The feature has also been altered to accurately track the duration of the users’ sleep. Unlike before, the Lights Off feature now shows the time users spent on being asleep without including the period they simply spent lying in bed prior their slumber.

The all-new AutoSleep 5 has also gotten sleep notes and tags. Users can now make a quick note of their sleep duration and select one or more custom emoji tags. The tags will come in handy when users filter their calendar to gain insights on their current sleeping patterns.

Users can learn more about the latest version of AutoSleep by clicking the “What’s new in v5?” button that’s located at the bottom of the clock tab in the app. Another way to get an in-depth understanding of the new update is by visiting Tantsissa’s official site for AutoSleep.

The new update for the Health & Fitness app is clocking in at 13.6 MB. It is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch devices, but it requires iOS 10.0 or later versions of Apple’s mobile operating system. AutoSleep also requires Apple Watch with watchOS 3.2 or higher.
