The “Avengers: Endgame” trailer doesn’t give away much, but it makes one thing clear: Iron Man is in trouble. With no food or water, Tony Stark is preparing to die. However, there are a few heroes who could come to his rescue. We have some theories about who will save Iron Man.

Captain Marvel: With the Guardians of the Galaxy mostly dead, the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t have many characters who regularly travel through space. Last week’s “Captain Marvel” trailer made it clear that Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is an intergalactic hero. Will the Kree-human hybrid go looking for the billionaire playboy philanthropist in “Avengers 4”?

Thor: The MCU’s other space traveler is Thor (Chris Hemsworth). The god of thunder might go looking for the Guardians’ ship, especially since Rocket (Bradley Cooper) will likely be looking for the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy after Groot (Vin Diesel) was caught in the Snap.

Avengers 4 theories
Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) or Thor (Chris Hemsworth) could all potentially save Iron Man in "Avengers: Endgame." Marvel Studios

Rescue: You might know her better as Pepper Potts. Iron Man’s true love has a superhero persona in the comics, and fans have reason to believe that she’ll finally suit up in “Avengers 4.” She shared a behind-the-scenes photo wearing motion capture leggings. The pajama-like clothing is what actors wear when part of their body will be covered in CGI. They probably aren’t using special effects to create Pepper’s pantsuit.

Pepper knows Tony left Earth on a spaceship, and she might not believe that he was caught in the Snap. It’s reasonable to think that she might go after her man using technology that he created.

Nebula: The daughter of Thanos might be onboard with Tony in “Avengers: Endgame.” After all, they were the only two left standing on Titan, and she probably knew how to control the Benatar. She likely has to work with him, and she’s part machine. Could her machine parts be used as life support while she gets them to safety? Could she even help the ship run without fuel?

Fans will have to wait until next year to find out who will save Iron Man — if he gets saved at all. “Avengers: Endgame” hits theaters April 26.
