It’s official — Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are calling it quits after 10 long years of marriage. The couple made the announcement via a joint statement issued to TMZ on Tuesday.

While the couple have been very open about their decision to end their marriage, they did not give fans a reason why, causing much speculation. Multiple outlets claim to know the reasoning behind their split, reporting Affleck is battling a gambling addiction and drinking problem which drove a wedge between he and his wife. Others have suggested the actors were living separately after moving trucks were recently seen outside their Los Angeles home.

Although we don’t have all the answers right now, here’s everything we know so far about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce.

1. The couple has apparently been separated for quite some time

Sources close to the couple recently told People magazine they split months prior to their public announcement.

2. There are currently multiple rumors circulating as to the catalyst in their divorce

Initially it was being reported that Affleck was struggling with both gambling and drinking problems, which drove Garner away. New stories now claim that it was not his vices, but rather his ever-growing career that got in the way. TMZ’s sources say the actress no longer felt he was a “present husband.”

3. They reportedly sought therapy in an attempt to save their troubled marriage

Not long after news of their impending divorce broke, E! News reported that the couple had been in marriage counselling for two years. Insiders told the publication “they grew apart” over time and were trying to remedy that.

4. Affleck and Garner would like their divorce to remain amicable

Although they have decided to go their separate ways, both Affleck and Garner hope to stay as friendly as possible. The estranged husband and wife are reportedly making their three children their “top priority,” hoping to ease the pain of their separation.

5. They plan to share custody of their three children

Although they have not yet officially divorced, Affleck and Garner are said to have worked out a plan for sharing custody of their three young children. The parents will reportedly seek joint custody of daughters Violet, 9, and Seraphina, 6, and son Samuel, 3.

6. The pair will not be living separately, despite reports to the contrary

People magazine reported that Affleck and Garner have no plans of leaving the $17.5 million Los Angeles home they share following their divorce -- at least not any time soon. The publication reported that they will continue to share the residence after their divorce, focusing on co-parenting. It was previously believed that one or both of the actors would be vacating the home when moving trucks were spotted on the premises.

7. Neither actor will be filing divorce papers until everything is sorted out

Affleck and Garner are believed to be waiting until all the details of their custody agreement, as well as their estate, are set in stone before moving forward with the divorce process.
