  • The track also won a Grammy in March
  • The Grammy win made Blue Ivy one of the youngest Grammy honorees

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter has bagged an award at the 2021 MTV VMAs, making her the youngest-ever VMA winner. The category in which she won was not presented during the VMAs telecast on Sunday.

This year’s VMA was quite a night for Beyonce’s little family. After the end of the telecast, MTV rattled off some awards that were handed out on stage. One of the awards was the Best Cinematography prize for “Brown Skin Girl,” which is credited to Beyonce, Saint Jhn, Wizkid and Blue Ivy.

Also nominated in the same category were Lady Gaga’s “911,” Justin Bieber’s “Holy,” Foo Fighters’ “Shame Shame,” Lorde’s “Solar Power” and Billie Ellish’s “Therefore I Am.”

Wizkid and Saint Jhn joined Beyonce in “Brown Skin Girl,” which was released in 2019 as part of the soundtrack album for “The Lion King: The Gift.” Its music video also appeared in Beyonce’s 2020 Netflix film, “Black is King,” months before it won the Grammy Award earlier this year for Best Music Video.

With Blue Ivy also being credited for the MTV VMA win, the prize makes Beyonce’s daughter the youngest-ever winner in the history of the VMAs. The track features her voice during the song’s beginning and end and she also appears in its music video with her mom.

Shortly after the song bagged the award, Twiggy Pucci Garcon, who worked as a choreographer on the FX series “Pose,” tweeted, “Come on for Brown Skin Girl winning. And Bey makes sure to throw Blue Ivy in them credits bay.”

“Brown Skin Girl” also won a Grammy in March, making Blue Ivy one of the youngest nominees to ever win a Grammy. She is one year older than Leah Peasall, whose album “The Peasall Sisters” was hailed as the Album of the Year, making Peasall the youngest ever Grammy honoree.

After Blue Ivy’s special win at the Grammy’s earlier this year, Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother, shared a sweet tribute for her granddaughter on Instagram, writing, “Congratulations to my beautiful talented granddaughter for being one of the youngest Grammy winners! For ‘Brown Skin Girl’ you go my Blue Blue!!! Soo proud of you!!!”
