Now that the long-awaited third entry in the most excellent “Bill & Ted” series is finally, actually happening, casting for the comedy is gearing up with the introduction of the Wyld Stallyns’ daughters.

Deadline reported on Wednesday that “Bill & Ted Face the Music” has cast rising stars Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as the daughters of the now-aging wannabe rock stars once again played by Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Weaving will play Thea Preston, daughter of Winter’s Bill S. Preston, Esq., while Lundy-Paine will play Billie Logan, daughter of Reeves’s Ted "Theodore" Logan.

While both are young actresses on the rise, Weaving has perhaps had the most exposure, playing Frances McDormand’s daughter in Martin McDonagh’s Oscar-winner, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” in addition to significant roles in Joe Lynch’s wild horror film “Mayhem” and the Netflix original horror comedy “The Babysitter.” Lundy-Paine gained exposure in smaller roles alongside Brie Larson in “The Glass Castle” and Matt Damon in “Downsizing." She scored her biggest role to date as Casey Gardner on Netflix’s series “Atypical.”

“Bill & Ted Face the Music” will find the middle-aged metal-heads still struggling to write the hit song that will save the world and bring about a utopian society, while also dealing with their adult lives and families. The film has been an on-and-off prospect for almost three decades since the release of “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” in 1989 and “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” in 1991.

In the years since, Reeves reinvented himself as an action superstar with the “Matrix” trilogy and, more recently, the “John Wick” series. Winters, meanwhile, transitioned to a career directing for television and music videos.

“Bill & Ted Face the Music” debuts Aug. 21, 2020.
