South Korean girl group Blackpink becomes the second most subscribed artist on YouTube with over 48.8 million subscribers.

Blackpink debuted with four members namely Lisa, Rosé, Jennie, and Jisoo in 2016 under YG Entertainment and has successfully established itself as the popular K-pop girl group in the world.

On Sept. 29, Blackpink’s management agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed that the band’s official YouTube channel had surpassed 48.8 million subscribers, making it the second most subscribed music artists on the platform.

American Singer Justin Bieber is currently the most subscribed music artist on YouTube with over 57.2 million subscribers. Meanwhile, American DJ Marshmello was pushed to the No.3 spot on the rankings with 48.7 million subscribers.

Earlier this year, with the release of the group’s first comeback single titled "How You Like That," Blackpink surpassed Eminem to become the fourth most subscribed music artist on YouTube. Following the release of "Ice Cream" in collaboration with Selena Gomez in August, the girl group had made its way to becoming the third most subscribed artists, taking over Ed Sheeran’s spot on the list.

Blackpink also holds the record for being the first K-pop girl group to reach 1 billion views on YouTube. The band recently set another YouTube record with "How You Like That."

The single, which has broken numerous records, broke one of the band’s own records by becoming the fastest MV by a South Korean group to reach 550 million views on Sept. 28. It achieved the milestone with a record time of three months and two days since its release. The record was previously held by Blackpink’s "Kill This Love" music video which had reached the milestone in four months and 18 days.

The band now has seven songs that have crossed the 550 million views mark on YouTube including "How You like That," "As If It’s Your Last," "Kill This Love," "Whistle," "Boombayah," and "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," according to Soompi.

Meanwhile, the Blackpink members have been releasing teasers for their upcoming first full-length album titled "The Album." The highly anticipated album will consist of eight tracks and is scheduled to release on Oct. 2.
