All-female quartet Blackpink won this year's Best Metaverse Performance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

The famous K-pop girl group received the Moonman Sunday at the Prudential Center in New Jersey where the awards show returned for a live telecast since 2019 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jennie Kim, Lisa Manobal, Kim Jisoo and Roseanne Park won the coveted award for their virtual concert in July titled, "The Virtual." In winning the Best Metaverse Performance category, Blackpink beat BTS, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber, Def Jam, Rift Tour ft. Ariana Grande, Fortnite and Roblox.

This is the first time MTV included a category for the Best Metaverse performance which makes Blackpink the first winner of this new category.

Blackpink won their first VMA trophy in 2020 for their hit, "How You Like That" which was proclaimed the year's Song of the Summer.

On the same day, Lisa won against fellow South Koreans for the Best K-Pop category for her song "Lalisa."

Blackpink's legion of fans, known as BLINKS, cheered loudly as the Thailand-born rapper and singer took the stage in a sexy black ensemble and accepted her first VMA trophy as a solo artist.

A fan tweeted a clip of Lisa accepting her trophy and wrote, "CONGRATULATIONS LISA WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!"

"Wow, this is heavy," the 25-year-old K-pop superstar began her speech.

"I wanna thank MTV for this wonderful honor. I want to thank all of my collaborators in my special project especially Teddy Oppa (Blackpink producer Teddy Park), YG and BLINKS, you are the most important ones," she said as the screams got louder.

Lisa then turned to her groupmates and thanked them in Korean. "I love you. Thank you for loving 'Lalisa' so much," she concluded her speech.

Blackpink also made their long-awaited return to the stage as a quartet as they performed their new single, "Pink Venom" on the MTV stage.

A fan shared a clip of Taylor Swift enjoying Blackpink's performance during the show.

"Taylor singing along to pink venom AND posting a TikTok with it knowing that it has "look what you made us do" in its lyrics," the fan captioned their tweet.

Meanwhile, BTS also won Group of the Year on Sunday while fellow boy band Seventeen took home the trophy for Push Performance of the Year.
