The news that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were getting a divorce rocked the country world this summer. Now Shelton is speaking out about the split, revealing that everything happened fast and before he knew it the process was finished.

In an interview on "The Bobby Bones Show," Shelton said the divorce was over within nine or 10 days. He said he and Lambert did their best to try to keep it a secret from everyone.

"We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that, because by the time anybody knew anything it was over. It was done," Shelton dished. "Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this, it is what it is. We're buddies."

Shelton, 39, and Lambert, 31, who were married for four years, went public about their divorce in late July after everything had been finalized. Despite not being married anymore, the former couple remain civil with each other. They have engaged each other several times on Twitter since breaking up, often joking about tabloid headlines regarding their split.

The couple met in 2005 when they performed a duet of "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma." Lambert later admitted to Hoda Kotb that she had fallen in love with Shelton during that performance. At the time, Shelton was married, but he and Lambert got together after his divorce in 2006 and married five years later in May 2011.
