The opening episode sees an explosive showdown between Frank and City Council Speaker Regina Thomas portrayed by Whoopi Goldberg. According to the official synopsis and spoilers, the discussion will focus on police brutality and the protests in the city.

Meanwhile, Danny and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) are investigating a murder and they suddenly go missing during their search for the killer. When Jamie and Joe find out about Danny and Baez's disappearance, they swiftly go into action.

The show is also set to address the ongoing pandemic—but only as a side story. Eddie (Vanessa Ray) will find herself trying to help a woman locate the body of her father who died in the middle of the pandemic.

In its latest season, "Blue Bloods" is certainly confronting recent global issues. However, the series is taking on a different approach in tackling them.

Speaking on US Weekly's "Watch With Us" podcast, series star Bridget Moynahan confirmed that they are going to "touch upon some things within a storyline" on Season 11. However, they are refraining from "expressing COVID at all with masks or anything."

"It seems like they've made the conscious choice of coming back to 'Blue Bloods' as we're coming back to the stories we like to tell and that our fans like to hear. We're coming back to the family table. And so we're kind of going ahead with what we've done," said Moynahan.

Apart from the coronavirus outbreak, the show is also dealing with socio-political issues with police-centric storylines. Fans can expect to view aspects of the Black Lives Matter Movement in the upcoming chapters of the series.

"We're going to address all of those elements, whether it has to do with race or particular laws or whatever the story is, we’re going to address it — not only in a procedural way but in that human element. We’re coming from all the different directions from the law — from the police to a human being affected by it to someone on the street or at the table. So, I think that’s what the beauty of the show is: You get it from all different angles," Moynahan added.

The show continues to revolve around the drama surrounding the Reagan family. There is Joe keep an eye on as he remains the most recent addition to the family introduced in the final episodes of Season 10.

Fans can watch "Blue Bloods" Season 11 Premiere online via streaming on CBS All Access after its television broadcast, Friday 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
