‘Bones’ Season 12 Spoilers: 8 Things To Know Before The Jan. 3 Premiere

The final episodes of “Bones” is merely hours away from airing on Fox.

Last season ended with Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) being kidnapped by her former assistant, Zack Addy (Eric Millegan), while the FBI was hunting for a serial killer known as The Puppeteer.

With the last twelve episodes of the Fox series scheduled to air in the upcoming weeks, below is everything you need to know about Season 12:

1. Episode 1 Synopsis

“Bones” Season 12 premiere kicks off with Brennan’s husband, Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), and the Jeffersonian-FBI team desperately searching for her after they realize that Zack abducted her. However, the episode 1 synopsis states that her rescue is just the beginning of all their problems. From the episode’s description and photos, it seems like Zack isn’t the notorious murderer.

2. Episode Titles

Fox released the titles of the first nine episodes of “Bones”:

• Episode 1 – “The Final Chapter: The Hope In The Horror”
• Episode 2 – “The Final Chapter: The Brain In The Bot”
• Episode 3 – “The Final Chapter: The New Tricks In The Old Dogs”
• Episode 4 – “The Final Chapter: The Price For The Past:
• Episode 5 – “The Final Chapter: The Tutor In The Tussle”
• Episode 6 – “The Final Chapter: The Flaw In The Saw”
• Episode 7 – “The Final Chapter: The Grief And The Girl”
• Episode 8 – “The Final Chapter: The Scare In The Score”
• Episode 9 – “The Final Chapter: The Steal In The Wheels”

3. The Return Of Old Characters

Brennan’s old flame, Sully, (Eddie McClintock) will be back in the final season of “Bones.” Other old characters that are returning are Dr. Beth Mayer (Betty White) and Gordon Wyatt (Stephen Fry).

4. A Special New Character

Boreanaz’s wife Jaime is guest starring in Season 12, episode 9 of “Bones.” She will play a new character and it will be fun to watch how she interacts with her husband on the show. Veteran actors Ed Asner and Hal Hoolbrook are also appearing in guest roles.

5. An Epic Serial Killer Storyline

Finally, The Puppeteer storyline will come to a conclusion. Although it seemed like Zack is the mass murderer, the Season 12 premiere photos seem to suggest otherwise. Maybe Zack is simply trying to help Brennan in his own way or maybe he is actually protecting her. Only time will tell.

6. A Wedding

Dr. Camille “Cam” Saroyan (Tamara Taylor) and Arastoo (Pej Vahdat) are (finally) going to get married. Yay!

7. An Undercover Operation

The team will go undercover at a lumberjack competition. It is, sadly, their last covert mission.

8. An Intense Storyline For Brennan

Despite the fact that the forensic anthologist’s psychologist was arrested last season, she will continue to go for therapy. The showrunner teased last year that some very serious things are going to happen to her in the final season.
