Amazon's “The Boys” Season 2 trailer gave fans their first look into the next forway of zany and not-so-heroic exploits of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his ragtag group of supe-haters. Featuring only small glimpses of scenes, many of which already appear to be far bloodier than its previous season, the new trailer only adds fuel to the fire of hype surrounding the show’s forthcoming return.

A release date has yet to be announced, though Urban did tease “The Boys” release date as mid-2020 in his end-of-shooting Instagram post. Alongside Urban, returning “The Boys” cast members include Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, and Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk.

As to new additions to “The Boys” cast, the following few characters will be making their on-screen debut in Season 2:

Stormfront

Revealed amid San Diego Comic-Con, after varied rumors had been floated around, Aya Cash will debut in “The Boys” Season 2 as the Hitler-youth-raised Stormfront. The nasty supervillain, who is an amalgam of DC’s Shazam and Marvel’s Thor, is the leader of the sinister group of evildoers known as Payback.

In an exclusive interview with ComingSoon, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed the nature of Stormfront’s inclusion in the show’s second season: “Yeah, our version of Stormfront kind of evolves over the season…it’s not the version in the book, but I would say they have the same rotten soul.”

Terror

Billy Butcher’s bulldog, named Terror, is a staple of the series in the comics, yet was only featured in the background of a flashback in Season 1. In yet another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke explains that the Butcher’s beloved pet will be making a more prominent return.

“We had to bite the bullet and have one f—ing pain-in-the-ass episode to shoot with the dog, and then at the end the dog will return to the safe and comfortable place it’s been. But it does come out of retirement for one more mission with Butcher, and so we can at least put Butcher with Terror for one big episode.”

Soldier Boy, Crimson Countess, and Patton Oswalt

Revealed by Kripke on Twitter, Patton Oswalt of “Ratatouille” fame will be joining “The Boys” cast in a highly secretive role for Season 2.

The showrunner has also teased on social media a number of other heroes important to the main storyline, including both Crimson Countess and Soldier Boy. It’s unclear who will be donning their roles, but it’s safe to assume the characters will be rounding out the ever-growing supe-filled world at the core of Amazon’s “The Boys” Season 2.
