As a young woman, Angelina Jolie enjoyed traveling, and it is something she wants her children to experience. However, it appears her split from Brad Pitt is stopping her from giving their kids the same opportunities that she has had.

Jolie, who shares six children with Pitt, filed for divorce in 2016. After a bitter custody battle, their kids have been spending time with each parent, but the 45-year-old is hoping things will change once the kids are older.

In the new issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Jolie admitted that while she wants to encourage her children to explore the world she can’t have them act on her advice. “I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18. Right now, I’m having to base where their father chooses to live,” she revealed.

During the interview, the “Maleficent 2” star reflected on how she defines what it means to be “truly free” as a woman. “A life fully lived is very hard to do. And for many women, it is impossible because of what they are up against. I am conscious every day that I have the freedom to speak openly and to make my own choices,” she explained.

“And the ability to encourage my children to explore the world, including the world of ideas and expression, without there being limits to what they are allowed to study or know or imagine themselves doing in the future.”

Jolie went on to reveal that she finds joy in seeing people embrace who they are. “I think we all know boldness when we see it. Nothing makes me smile more than when I see someone being fully themselves, with their own individual style and character, whatever that is,” she said.

Jolie has continued to self-isolate with her children amid the coronavirus pandemic, however, Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11, have spent time with Pitt.
