Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 10
Walt (Bryan Cranston) uses Saul Goodman's (Bob Odenkirk) body-men to secure his money from a storage locker, but they have a little fun with it first AMC

“Buried,” the 10th episode of the fifth season of the AMC hit “Breaking Bad,” continues to follow the unraveling of Walter White's life (Bryan Cranston) along with the lives of the people around him. While Walt attempts to secure his money with Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) hot on his trail, Jesse (Aaron Paul) remains in a comatose-like state after a man finds him lying on a merry-go-round. The police eventually pick him up for questioning, which gives a possible break for Hank to find the evidence he needs to put Walt away. Jesse’s Merry-Go-Round

The episode opens on a man discovering money strewn across the neighborhood. Moments later, he discovers Jesse’s car parked at a playground and Jesse lying on a merry-go-round in a comatose-like state.

Money

Finally understanding that Hank is really on his trail now, Walt asks Saul Goodman’s (Bob Odenkirk) body men, Huell (Lavell Crawford) and Kuby (Bill Burr), to retrieve all of his meth money from the storage locker where Skyler White (Anna Gunn) stashed it. Huell can’t resist doing something a little silly before packing the money up. Kuby chastises him, but he finally relents and joins him on the money pile.

The thought crosses Huell’s mind to just run with the money to Mexico.

However, Kuby reminds him that Walt was responsible for killing 10 men in two minutes.

Skyler Gets Slapped By Marie

img

After Skyler refuses to give a testimony about Walt, Marie Schrader (Betsy Brandt) confronts her, finally realizing that Skyler knew all along about Walt’s dealings with meth. In anger, Marie slaps Skyler and storms out, almost taking Skyler’s child with her.

Buried

img

After Walt manages to get his money, he drives a white van out to the middle of the desert to bury it away in black barrels.

img

Walt labors in the desert heat to dig a hole deep enough for the barrels to fit.

img

In order to remember where the barrels are, he uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) device to get exact coordinates of his stash, which he then destroys after memorizing the coordinates.

img

After memorizing the coordinates, Walt purchases a lottery ticket with the GPS coordinates as the lottery numbers and returns home.

When Skyler tries to talk to Walt, he doesn’t initially respond. When she tries to talk to him again, he collapses to the ground, exhausted from digging all day.

Lydia Tying Up Loose Ends

img

Meanwhile, Lydia Rodarte-Quayle (Laura Fraser) is dealing with the aftermath of Walt ending his part of the meth cooking operation. She's turned to local meth cooks, who prove to be rather lackluster in their performance. On a visit to their lab to see their operation, she finds somewhat lower standards than those of the great Heisenberg, a pseudonym for Walt in the meth world.

Lydia is seen climbing down a ladder with her signature red-soled Louboutins on full display. An Entertainment Weekly recap of the episode notes earlier references to her shoes, such as in the fourth episode of season five (“Fifty-one”) where Lydia is seen accidentally wearing two different shoes. EW speculates this may be a representation of show creator Vince Gilligan’s Tarantino-esque foot fetish.

img

It turns out Lydia was only visiting, ostensibly to check up on the operation. But moments after stepping down into the lab, she is seen checking her phone before the sound of muffled gunshots is heard above.

img

Todd (Jesse Plemons) opens the hatch and greets her, leading her through a number of dead bodies while she covers her eyes.

Her shoes are again in full view with the dead bodies, adding to the plausibility of EW's foot-fetish theory.

Break in the Case

img

Jesse has been picked up by the police after he was discovered on the merry-go-round. While he's being questioned, Hank looks on from outside the interrogation room and explains that he has a history with Jesse. While it’s not known whether or not he’ll say something that will implicate Walt as Heisenberg, he might provide the break that Hank needs to put Walt away.
