Brody Jenner found his ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter’s romantic relationship with Miley Cyrus shocking.

In an exclusive clip from “The Hills: New Beginnings” Season 2 obtained by Entertainment Tonight Tuesday, the co-stars and friendly exes discuss their August 2019 breakup, which happened after five years of being together and about a year after they tied the knot in Bali, Indonesia.

Right off the bat, Jenner, 37, addresses how hard it was for him after they broke up and how surprised he was after learning about the romance that quickly blossomed between Carter, 32, and Cyrus, 28.

“After we had our split, it was obviously tough for both of us. She got into a relationship with somebody and I didn't find out until I saw it in the press,” he says in a confessional as shown in the clip.

The video, which was also uploaded on MTV Reality’s YouTube channel, then shows a scene where Jenner confronts Carter about the latter’s shocking relationship with the Hollywood singer, which lasted for two months, just after they decided to separate.

“The circumstances of what happened after our split, catered to that negative s—t. The whole lesbian thing was gnarly because in our entire relationship, you never expressed that you had any interest in females whatsoever,” Jenner tells his ex.

After being called out by Carter for giving her a “totally unfair” characterization, Jenner continues to bring up the issue by telling her that she did tell him she was never “into girls.” To this, Carter responds that she just never “met somebody that [she] was into” until Cyrus came into the picture.

Jenner then acknowledges Carter’s point by saying that she’s “right.” However, he insists that the whole thing was still “a shock for me and, I think, for a lot of people that saw that.”

In December, Carter also addressed her relationship with Cyrus. According to her, she was also surprised by the romantic feelings that developed inside of her for the “We Can’t Stop” hitmaker. “No one was more surprised that I was all of a sudden dating one of my girlfriends than I was,” she was quoted as saying by Us Weekly at the time.

“When I look back, I know that I had feelings for her that were maybe different from feelings I had for other friends. It was entirely unintentional, but I was very deeply in love with this person,” she added.

Despite what happened, Jenner has admitted that their split made him realize that they were meant to lead separate lives. “But after some time had passed, I realized this is where our lives were going. We're going to be separated, we're not gonna be together, but let's still be in each other's lives,” he says in the teaser clip.

“The Hills: New Beginnings” Season 2 premieres May 12 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
