Peru's largest publicly traded precious metals mining company, Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA, said Monday higher gold prices lifted its third-quarter profit 19 percent over the year-earlier level.

Net income was $208 million, or 82 cents per share, compared with $174.3 million, or 68 cents per share, in the third quarter of last year.

Revenue soared 56 percent to $435.3 million.

Buenaventura said the results were mainly driven by an increase in gold and copper sales from Buenaventura's direct operations, as well as the higher metal prices.
