After over 40 years of playing C-3PO, one moment in the upcoming franchise brought actor Anthony Daniels to tears -- a moment fans may have already seen in the newest “Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker” trailer.

"Taking one last look, sir, at my friends,” the rusted golden service droid says in the final “Rise of Skywalker” trailer to his new friends Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Finn (John Boyega), and Rey (Daisy Ridley). (You can view the moment at the 1:12 mark above.)

Upon the trailer's release, fans were immensely emotional, according to The Wrap, due to the suggestion this may be the last time we see C-3PO. "Star Wars" fans have grown up with the character and have seen him in every single installment since its first release back in 1977, alongside his adorable droid shadow R2-D2.

But what made fans misty-eyed also made Daniels tear up, he recalled in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment. “It got me, too,” Daniels said.

However, there might be a lot more to this emotional moment than a goodbye, the actor hints. “He will go on forever, I obviously won’t,” the 73-year-old actor divulged. The film star seems to hint that there is more to come from C-3PO post “Rise of Skywalker,” whether it involves him or not.

As to how C-3PO plays into “Rise of Skywalker” aside from the emotional bits, Daniels said he cherishes the fact that the droid will be more “center of the action” and suggests this may be his biggest moment yet.
