The "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," the sixteenth entry in the "Call of Duty" series and the reboot of the "Modern Warfare" subseries, went live on PC, PS4 and Xbox One recently. However, the game experienced some technical problems during the launch. Infinity Ward quickly responded and released a patch 1.04 update, which aims to fix many of the technical issues that frustrated COD fans and players during the game launch.

According to GameSpot, patch 1.04 update has finally arrived on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Patch 1.04 update is the first update that was released for the new "Modern Warfare" game since its official launch on Oct. 25. The first update doesn’t make any changes or improvements to the new game, but it does address and fix some technical issues.

Modern Warfare experiences problems during launch

The new first-person shooter game experienced some nasty server outages. The game publisher, Activision, has already acknowledged the problem and posted a message on Twitter via the Activision Support Site, saying that the development team was working on the fix. Patch 1.04 update includes hotfixes from last night as well as other stability and important bug fixes.

When COD players booted up the new first-person shooter game on launch day, they would already have to download three patches, including the most recent release, Patch 1.03, that fixed issues on spawning in multiplayer mode. COD players are advised to install those patches before they can play the new "Modern Warfare" game. The full list of the new "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" Update 1.04 Patch Notes can be found on the Activision website or Infinity Ward.

What to expect from the new Modern Warfare game

The game size varies from system to system. For PS4 and Xbox One platforms, the new "Call of Duty Modern Warfare" comes in at 1.804 GB, while for PC it’s pretty much bigger -- a whopping 7 GB.

Unlike the other "Modern Warfare" games, the new "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" game takes place in a realistic and modern setting, with support for cross-platform multiplayer, which according to Infinity Ward is the first time in the "Call of Duty" franchise's history.

The game’s single-player campaign focuses more on realism and features more tactical-based moral choices, while the game’s multiplayer campaign has been revised to allow for more tactical gameplay, which includes door breaching, a Realism mode that removes the HUD and a strong focus on map exploration. Additionally, the multiplayer campaign also features the return of KIllstreaks or rewards based on kills. Infinity Ward has also replaced the mini-map with a compass-style marker and also added some visual cues to better detect enemies and teammates.

On Twitter, the official Infinity Ward Twitter said that it released an update to remove all night maps from rotation. The game developer added that it will remove the minimap from all hardcore modes.

The new "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
