Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore got candida about their friendship and how they were so close even before they starred in "Charlie's Angels."

Diaz, 48, and Barrymore, 46, both starred in the 2000 American action comedy film "Charlie's Angels," alongside Lucy Liu. The film was a massive success that the trio did a sequel "Charlie's Angeles: Full Throttle" in 2003.

However, unknown to many, Diaz and Barrymore were already close friends years before they filmed "Charlie's Angels." They got to know each other when they were teenagers. They opened up about their friendship when they reunited for an Instagram Live cooking session Wednesday.

"We met when I was 14 and she was 16. I was working at a coffee house and she was a junior model," Barrymore was quoted by People as saying when she introduced Diaz. "She's still my bestie and sistie—sistie? That's a new word. It's Cameron Diaz. We're here to talk and we have things to talk about!"

The "50 First Dates" star shared how close they are at present. She also revealed their form of communication.

"Cameron and I tend to text each other while we're getting ready for things," she added. "We send each other videos of ourselves from our closets of us getting dressed, dancing around and sharing information. That's our form of communication."

Barrymore also credited Diaz for her cooking skills. According to her, the "Bad Teacher" star taught her how to cook because it was Diaz who was the "chef" when they were living together and filming all over the world.

Barrymore fondly recalled how Diaz taught her to make pasta sauce. She also complimented the "Sex Tape" star and called her the "best cook ever" before adding, "I know life with you in the kitchen."

For her part, Diaz confirmed that they bond in the kitchen. "Our kitchen, the kitchen is where we've always been, it's where I always am. Food is my love language, it's the main ingredient in everything that I do: love," Diaz said.

Since they have been friends for decades, Barrymore said they have gone through all the worse things one could imagine.

"We've experienced birth, life, death, marriage, divorce—highs and lows, work, boyfriends, friends, travel—there is nothing we haven't done together," Barrymore said.
