Nearly two months after filing a lawsuit against Golden Boy Promotions, Canelo Alvarez is now a free agent, according to trainer Eddy Reynoso. Wherever the biggest draw in boxing ends up, he’ll continue to earn massive paydays for his time in the ring.

In October 2018, Alvarez signed a five-year, $365 million contract with DAZN that was supposed to include 11 fights. After just three bouts, the Mexican fighter sued DAZN and Golden Boy for $280 million, which he was set to make in the final eight fights of his deal.

Alvarez alleged breach of contract in Federal Court in Los Angeles on Sept. 8, The Athletic reported.

“In my role as a manager and coach of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, I allow myself to communicate to the boxing community and to all our fans, that starting today, November 6th, Canelo becomes a free agent, so we are ready to continue with his boxing career,” Reynoso stated in a press release Friday.

“All this time we have been working very hard in the gym with a lot of responsibility and discipline, to be in great physical shape and ready to fight this year and it will be!”

In June, Alvarez had an estimated net worth of $94 million, according to Forbes. The latest estimation from Celebrity Net Worth has Alvarez’s net worth at $140 million, though that figure could be high.

Forbes ranked Alvarez as the 91st highest-paid celebrity of the year with $37 million in earnings. That included a $35 million purse for his fight against Sergey Kovalev on Nov. 2, 2019, and $2 million in endorsements.

Alvarez’s endorsements include Tecate and Under Armour.

Prior to inking his deal with DAZN, Alvarez had two bouts with Gennady Golovkin. Alvarez earned a combined $70 million for the two super-fights, according to DAZN. Alvarez and Golovkin fought to a controversial craw in September 2017, and Alvarez won the rematch a year later.

Alvarez made $25 million for his sixth-round knockout of Amir Khan on May 7, 2016. Alvarez made approximately $12 million in 2013 when Floyd Mayweather handed him the only loss of his career.
