Chelsea boss Frank Lampard wants more from Hakim Ziyech and admitted that despite putting on their best performance against Sheffield United, the club is still behind several teams in the Premier League.

The Blues sent a message to their English top-flight rivals with a victorious 4-1 win over Sheffiled on Saturday. After the match, Lampard heaped praise on Ziyech, who joined Chelsea from Ajax this summer, rating the winger as a “top-class” and “complete” player.

However, the three-time Premier League winner also got candid about his expectations for the 27-year-old.

“He’s a top-class player,” Lampard told reporters of Ziyech via Reuters. “He’s had a long time out since the Dutch league finished and then he had an injury, so to hit ground running the way he has is a huge plus for us. He has given us an extra edge and a different threat. He has an ability to find the last pass or cross, make assists and break teams that have a low block down. He sees the pass and has no fear to try it.”

“He exudes confidences in how much he wants to receive the ball and be the important player,” the manager added. “He also has great work ethic so he is a complete player. He’s been a big plus and I expect there is a lot more to come from him.”

Ziyech put on another impressive showing for the Blues, dishing out two assists to help his side close a win over Sheffield. The Moroccan has been in fine form in his debut season with Chelsea, tallying a total of two goals and three assists in seven games in all competitions.

It didn’t take long for Ziyech to adapt to Chelsea, insisting that he already feels “comfortable” with everybody in the team.

"I'm not afraid to give a pass!,” Ziyech told Sky Sports after the game. “I feel comfortable here. I feel comfortable here in the team and with the squad and all my team-mates so I think that's why I feel comfortable here."

Aside from Ziyech’s playmaking, Tammy Abraham, Thiago Silva, Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell also stepped up for Chelsea with one goal apiece. Lampard referred to Sheffield’s win as their “best performance” so far, but he assured that he’s not being overconfident.

The Blues boss is still hoping for Chelsea to become as dominant as Manchester City and Liverpool have been in recent times.

“It was our best performance of the season," Lampard concluded. "We are in a good place, but the level set by Manchester City and Liverpool in the last few years means we have to be in that place every game."
