“Chicago Fire” showrunner Matt Olmstead teases more crossover episodes. NBC

“Chicago Fire” Season 5 has featured a few crossover episodes with “Chicago P.D.” already, but it looks like the trend will continue on for the rest of the season.

In an interview with TVGuide, showrunner Matt Olmstead teased that some “Chicago Justice” characters may visit “Fire.” “We’re very excited about ‘Justice’ joining the fold,” Olmstead said. “No spoilers yet, but I think you’re going to see some ‘Justice’ characters on other shows, and I think you’re going to see some of our characters on ‘Justice.’ These crossovers aren’t going away anytime soon.”

Aside from the crossover teaser, Olmstead also offered a peek into what lies ahead for Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) in their journey to adopting Louie. The two decided to take their relationship to the next level by adopting a son instead of tying the knot, series co-creator Derek Haas told The Hollywood Reporter. Haas said the commitment level is just as high as getting married, but their bond will be tested even more. While it looked like things were going their way at first, a curve ball was thrown to them.

“We want to keep playing with your expectations of who [Louie’s father] is, what his motives are, how Casey and Dawson are going to react, and get as much drama as we can out of that situation,” Olmstead said. “So, the story’s not over, with what we show you in the crossover. But it will have an end, and hopefully we’re going to surprise you on where you think it’s going.”

As for what fans can expect to see in the next episode, titled “The People We Meet,” here’s the synopsis: “Severide agrees to donate bone marrow, but an accident throws everything into flux; Casey and Dawson seek some peace at home; and Otis and Mouch film a PSA encouraging folks to join the fire department.”

“Chicago Fire” Season 5 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
