Following a recall by Lakeside Refrigerated Services for more than 42,000 pounds of ground beef because it may be contaminated with E. coli, Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation (PPC) has recalled over 59,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because they may be contaminated with rubber.

Specifically, the affected chicken nuggets may be contaminated with a flexible rubber material, which was identified through a consumer complaint.

The recalled chicken nuggets are frozen and were produced on May 6.

The nuggets were sold in 4-pound plastic bags and labeled as Pilgrim’s Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Nuggets. They have a Best By Date of 06 MAY 2021 and a lot code of 0127 printed on the packaging.

Product cases of the contaminated chicken nuggets have lot codes of 0127105009, 0127105010, 0127105011, 0127105012, 0127105013, 0127105014, 0127105015, or 0127105016 printed on the box. The chicken nuggets also have an establishment number of P-20728 printed on the bag as well as the product case.

The chicken nuggets were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon, and Texas. Labels of the recall chicken nuggets can be viewed here.

Consumers are urged to check their freezer for the recalled chicken nuggets. They should not be eaten. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Pilgrim’s Pride said it has not received any reports of adverse reactions from the recall. Individuals that are concerned about illness or injury from the consumption of the chicken nuggets should contact their healthcare provider.
