After starring in five “Murder, She Baked” films for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Alison Sweeney’s moving on to another franchise for the network. The first installment of her new “Chronicle Mysteries” series, titled “Recovered,” which co-stars Benjamin Ayres (“Burden of Truth”), premieres Sunday night.

Along with starring in the movie as podcaster Alex McPherson, Sweeney’s also an executive producer and helped inspire it with her love of true crime podcasts.

According to the Hallmark synopsis, “Alex McPherson returns to the small town in Pennsylvania where she spent her summers as a girl to record the next episode of her true crime podcast, about the disappearance of a childhood friend 20 years prior.

“However, after teaming up with the local newspaper editor (Ayres), who reluctantly agrees to help her retrace the girl’s last steps, Alex not only uncovers the shocking truth behind the girl’s disappearance, but also a decades-old murder and its coverup. And, when Alex links her inquiries about the missing girl to a recent murder, she quickly realizes that she might just be the killer’s next target.”

Other executive producers of “Chronicle Mysteries: Recovered” are Craig Baumgarten, Melissa Salmons Jamie Goehring and Shawn Williamson. Kevin Leslie’s a producer, and Jason Borque directed from a script by Salmons.

The movie’s cast also includes: Dave Collette (Chuck Matthews), Olivia Steele Falconer (Kendall), Rebecca Staab (Eileen Bruce), Michael Kopsa (Miles Lawrence), Chris William Martin (Chris Schiller), Matt Bellefleur (Troy Hines), Jim Thorburn (Bradley Wilmott) and Lisa Durupt (Gina Desavio).

“Chronicle Mysteries: Recovered” debuts on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.
