There is no longer any buzz surrounding Google Buzz, as Google Inc. plans to kill off its microblogging service with a shift to focus more on its social networking Web site, Google Plus, and streamline its vision. But will Google+ succeed or be another failed attempt at a social network like Buzz?

The Microsoft Corp. announced the closing of its $8.5 billion deal to acquire Skype Global, on Thursday. The Redmond, Wash.-based company originally disclosed its intention to do so on May 10.

According to reports on Chitika Insights,Google+ has constantly failed to please its users; statistics show that the traffic on the social networking site has dipped by 70 per cent of its original numbers, since its launch a month back.

Google Buzz, the social messaging platform which was launched to take on Twitter, will be shut down soon.

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., will take comments from her social media circle to compose a floor speech to be delivered during the week of Oct. 24.

Google announced Friday it will shut down Google Buzz to focus on Google Plus. The search giant has also decided to fold several other departments within the company, including Jaiku and Code Search.
