The defense ministries of South Korea and the U.S. announced in a joint statement Friday plans to deploy THAAD in the Korean Peninsula.

The move toward a “major breakthrough” comes a day after the U.S. slapped sanctions on Kim Jong Un and other North Korean officials over human rights violations.

Liquefied natural gas, coal plants and nuclear power account for most of South Korea’s current energy production.

The U.S. sent two B-52 Stratofortress, which can be equipped with long-range nuclear air-to-ground missiles, to fly over the skies near South Korea during drills between June 13 and 20.

Although tech enthusiasts have been expecting a 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 7, a new report suggests that Samsung is likely testing a 6-inch variant of the smartphone.

North Korea said that it will continue to bolster its nuclear capabilities and slammed the U.S. for bringing in strategic assets to the Korean Peninsula.

Pyongyang is expected to revamp its cabinet and reshuffle government officials at Wednesday’s meeting.

The exercise, in the waters off the U.S. state of Hawaii, follows North Korea’s several mid-range ballistic missile tests in recent months.

The country’s top official for U.S. affairs dismissed criticism over Wednesday’s missile launch and said that Pyongyang’s real provocation was coming from Washington.

The fast-food giant received more than half a dozen offers for its restaurants in mainland China and Hong Kong, according to reports.

After two recent test launches, the U.N. Security Council was due to meet at the request of the United States and Japan.

The latest launch marked the isolated country’s fifth and sixth flight tests of the Musudan since April this year, despite stern sanctions from the United Nations.

The Japanese military is on alert for a possible launch, after North Korea appeared to have moved an intermediate-range missile to its east coast.

The first phase of human testing will involve 40 healthy subjects and is likely to start in a few weeks, Inovio Pharmaceuticals said.

Security experts say the Chinese seem to be abiding by an agreement to stop supporting the hacking of American trade secrets.

The U.S. State Department warned Americans in May to avoid traveling to North Korea because of the risk of “unduly harsh sentences.”

The South Korean spy agency said Sunday that 77 United States Forces Korea units across the country were on the Islamic State group’s radar.

Global markets had a breather at the end of last week from a three-day suspension in British campaigning following the fatal attack on lawmaker Jo Cox, a strong supporter of Britain staying in the EU.
