Microsoft urged users to update their devices to the most recent out-of-band update. The tech giant alerts Windows 7 users that the recently released security patch for all versions is an important update that addresses multiple issues.

Microsoft warned Windows users to update their devices immediately to the IE 0-day patch via Windows Update to help keep them safe. In a statement released through its official website Thursday, the tech giant said that this security patch addresses multiple issues that their customers encounter for months now.

List of issues that the IE 0-day patch addresses

The critical Windows update addresses a vulnerability that took Microsoft days to patch. The bug affected a small section of Windows users. According to Clement Lecigne of Google's Threat Analysis Group, the issue turned out to be because of a flaw in the IE scripting engine.

Installing .Net 3.5, one of the Features on Demand that caused errors to Windows devices, brought on the critical Windows update-targeted issues.

Another set of vulnerabilities that the critical Windows update address are two bugs that operated in tandem. In February, a bug found in Chrome and another that causes problems to Windows 7 surfaced, bringing trouble to Windows customers.

A printer error causing print jobs to fail is the latest reported issue that Microsoft received. The reports say that certain apps generate errors, remote procedures call (RPC) to name a few, while others close after installing 2019 for CVE-2019-1367, an IE Cumulative Update or Security Update released on Sept. 23.

IE 0-day patch via Windows update available for all versions

The patch, which was originally released for CVE-2019-1367 on the Microsoft Update Catalog, is now accessible to wider end-user crows as Microsoft made it available through Windows Update and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). The software giant further alerts Windows users on the urgency of the update, saying that this is a required security update that expands the out-of-band update dated Sept.23, 2019.

To fully apply the protections, Microsoft urges Windows users to install the latest out-of-band update as soon as possible. This required security patch is available for all Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 supported versions.

Microsoft clarified in its statement that this out-of-band update does not supersede the October Patch Tuesday update set to be released on Oct. 8.
