  • CD Projekt Red recently announced that "Cyberpunk 2077" is playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X at launch

When CD Projekt Red unveiled “Cyberpunk 2077” last year, it received an overwhelming response from fans. Keanu Reeves’ presence during the game’s announcement and her role in the upcoming title were significant factors for the fans’ reaction. Following a series of postponed release, a new report claims that “Cyberpunk 2077” has a plan to dominate next-generation gaming consoles’ PS5 and Xbox Series X.

A recent report from T3 speculated that CD Projekt Red might be planning to launch “Cyberpunk 2077” on next-generation gaming consoles. The site claims that the gaming studio has postponed the game several times with a new release date scheduled on Nov 19, 2020. The date, according to the site, is just a day away from the rumored release date of Sony’s PS5.

Additionally, the site pointed out that Microsoft’s Xbox Series X is heavily rumored to launch on Nov 20, 2020. Apart from this, CD Projekt Red earlier announced that XBox One and PS4 versions of “Cyberpunk 2077” would be backwards compatible with Xbox Series X and PS5, respectively. The post on Twitter shared that the PS4 or Xbox One copy of the game would work on the PS5 and Xbox Series X on launch day.

It can be recalled that “Cyberpunk 2077” was first postponed and was scheduled to arrive on Sept 17, 2020. At that time, CD Projekt Red said that the game is complete and playable, but there are things that need to be done. The release date was confirmed by Michal Nowakowski the studio’s senior vice president of business development saying that the team had no plans of moving the dates.

USGamer earlier reported that “Cyberpunk 2077” will not likely arrive on PS5 or Xbox Scarlett at launch. However, with the latest developments, it looks like the much-awaited sci-fi game is launching on the same window that the next-gen consoles are slated to arrive. With the backwards compatibility of the PS4 and Xbox One versions on the next-gen consoles, it appears that earlier reports about the game not arriving on next generation gaming consoles are not accurate.

“Cyberpunk 2077” is scheduled to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. These games can be playable on Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X as the next-gen consoles are backwards compatible.
