The Dallas Cowboys play their most important game of the 2019 NFL season Sunday afternoon when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles. The reigning NFC East champions can clinch a first-place finish in what has become close to an unofficial division title game in Week 16.

Much has been made about Philadelphia’s injuries. The Eagles have lost their top three wide receivers. It’s partly why they are home underdogs in a must-win game.

The Cowboys are now dealing with an injury to their most important player. There doesn’t seem to be much concern that Dak Prescott might be forced to miss Sunday’s game, but the latest reports indicate that he isn’t close to being completely healthy.

Prescott has been limited in practice because of a shoulder injury he suffered early in Dallas’ Week 15 win over the Los Angeles Rams. An MRI confirmed that the quarterback isn’t seriously hurt, but a sprained AC joint has prevented him from throwing the football over the last few days.

“He just banged it up and it's hard for him to function right now,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday, via ESPN.com. “so [I] don't want him throwing much in practice today.”

A source has told Mike Fisher of CowboysSI.com that Prescott might not throw the ball until Saturday, one day before the big NFC East tilt.

Prescott has never missed a game since entering the league in 2016. He’s already thrown for a career-high 4,334 yards and 26 touchdowns, leading the NFL’s No.1 ranked offense.

Dallas routed Philadelphia 37-10 when the rivals met at AT&T Stadium in Week 7. Prescott completed 21 of 27 passes for 239 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

The Cowboys had their most impressive win of the season last week when they defeated the Rams 44-21. Prescott played most of the game with the shoulder injury, posting his second-highest passer rating (123.8) of the season.
