Kendall Vertes has found her voice and she’s not afraid to use it.

On Tuesday’s Season 6 installment of “Dance Moms,” Kendall made it clear to coach Abby Lee Miller she’s not a fan of her teaching techniques. Her upset came after Abby reassigned her duet to another elite junior team member on the Lifetime series.

At the start of episode 14, “JoJo Steals The Show,” Abby announces that in addition to the weekly group number, Maddie Ziegler and Kendall will be performing a duet. She also gifts a duet to guest star Sarah Hunt and newcomer Brynn Rumfallo. Shortly after announcing the Michael Jackson inspired dances, Maddie’s mother, Melissa Gisoni, makes it clear her daughter will be not available for one of the practices, which makes Abby rethink the routine. Abby says she doesn’t want to put the duet onstage without being prepared.

When Maddie is absent from class the following day, Abby asks JoJo Siwa to act as her swing performer and rehearse with Kendall. When Abby comments the routine would be better as a solo as there is no interaction between the dancers, she asks Kendall to perform alone. After Kendall fails to dance the routine to the best of her ability, Abby questions why she’s so “miserable.” Kendall responds she’s upset about not being able to compete with Maddie. When the moms intervene Kendall calls the situation “annoying” and leaves the studio in tears… for the second time in two weeks.

While Kendall finds consolation on Melissa's shoulder, Abby asks JoJo to also perform the routine alone. When she blows away Abby with her rendition, the coach award her the dance as a solo.

“Kendall’s literally having a panic attack about this duo,” JoJo tells the cameras. “I would love to do this MJ dance as a solo because I am MJ!”

“The whole world can say that I took the duet away from Kendall and I gave JoJo a solo and I’m a big, bad old me, but that is not what happened,” Abby explains. “Kendall gave JoJo that solo.”

When Jill discovers JoJo has been given the solo, she approaches Abby about her decision. Abby says she believes Kendall thinks the duet is “beneath her.” When Kendall returns to the studio, Jill asks her daughter what she wants to do and Kendall says she wants the dance to remain a duet with JoJo, which sets Abby off.

“But nothing in it is a duet!” Abby yells and claps her hands. “There’s not one step that is interacting!”

When Kendall hears Abby’s upset, she leaves the studio a second time, only to return a few minutes later.

“If you would stop yelling at me I would really, really appreciate it,” Kendall says to her coach with tears in her eyes. “I hate when you yell at me.”

Abby tells Kendall she wasn’t yelling at her and that was yelling at “everyone.” Jill doesn’t let Abby apologize and pulls her daughter out of the room.

At the competition, Abby continues her plan to allow JoJo to compete the duet as solo. Unfortunately for JoJo, the judges tell her they feel she could have brought more power to her dance and she doesn’t place in the overalls.
