The ballroom just won’t be the same. During Week 8 of “Dancing With the Stars” fans of the hit ABC series were forced to say farewell to Andy Grammer and his partner Allison Holker after the two were eliminated from the Season 21 competition.

Andy explained on Tuesday morning during an appearance on “Good Morning America” that he felt the timing of his elimination was fitting seeing as though he was able to honor his mother, Kathy, who died of cancer, with one last dance. Andy attributed his “Icon” routine to his mom, who, according to Andy, encouraged him in a way to partake in Season 21 of “DWTS.”

“I came on this show because she loved 'Dancing With the Stars' and dancing in general. So it felt full circle,” he explained, adding that it was a “sweet” experience to honor his mother with a routine sound tracked to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.”

“Grieving is such an interesting thing and I found it through dancing on this show,” Andy said.

The “Honey, I’m Good” singer then dished details on his jaw-dropping handspring that he broke out during the dance-off portion of the show. (Two couples danced head-to-head during the installment. The winning couple then had two extra points added to their overall score.) Allison’s partner revealed that because he only had a short period of time to learn the Samba, a dance that takes dancers years to master, he had to improvise a bit when the choreography slipped his mind.

“At some point during that dance I was like, ‘Screw this!’” Andy said, revealing that’s why he went off the grid and wowed the judges with a handspring/worm combo. “I just wanted to throw it all out there.”

Andy ended winning the dance-off competition -- but unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to save him from elimination. He and Allison became the sixth couple eliminated from the 2015 competition.

On “Good Morning America” the two revealed who they think is going to win the sparkling, Season 21 Mirror Ball trophy. While Allison is rooting for Sharna Burgess and her celebrity partner Nick Carter to be dubbed the “DWTS” champs, Andy is crossing his fingers that Bindi Irwin comes out on top.

“Who doesn’t want Bindi [Irwin] to win? I’m such a big fan of Bindi! Or Carlos [PenaVega] -- he’s my dude,” Andy said.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
