The wedding is off. After two months of being engaged, Karina Smirnoff and her fiance Jason Adelman, both 37, have officially called it quits. E News confirmed the split, adding that the “Dancing with the Stars” alumna, who won’t be competing in Season 20 of the ABC reality-television series, has not yet publicly announced her newly single status.

Despite not formally addressing the now-defunct relationship, the dancer alluded to the breakup on Instagram. Early Thursday, Smirnoff posted a photograph of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” album cover that indicated she was listening to the iconic breakup tune.

“It’s a very sticky situation,” an insider close to the couple told Us Weekly regarding the “complicated” breakup. “[Smirnoff] won’t discuss the engagement because she is so distressed about the entire thing.”

Smirnoff had been dating Adelman for a little less than a year before the “American Dreams” actor popped the big question in mid-January. After she said, “Yes,” to the proposal, he slipped a stunning 5-carat Martin Katz ring on her finger.

During a subsequent promotional event for Smirnoff’s new book, “We’re Just Not That Into You: Dating Disasters from the Trenches,” however, the former “DWTS” competitor’s gorgeous emerald-cut diamond ring was notably missing from her hand. Co-authored by Lindsay Rielly, the book was inspired by Smirnoff’s wild dating life.

The dancer told People magazine that her hilarious book dishes the dirt on her “dating escapades from A-listers to average Joes.”

“It’s not about calling anyone out,” explained Smirnoff, who was previously engaged to both Maksim Chmerkovskiy in 2008 and Brad Penny in 2010. “It’s literally looking at dates from a positive perspective. You need to be able to laugh at yourself, and then you will enjoy the dating process that much more.”

The release of Smirnoff’s dating-disaster book comes at an interesting time considering she’s now back on the market. Does this mean she’ll be able to gather new material for a sequel?
