-Going into last night, the narrative was that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney needed a strong debate performance to jump-start his moribund campaign. The universal consensus is that he succeeded: He appeared forceful and knowledgeable, ready with swift rebuttals (factual content notwithstanding), while President Barack Obama seemed listless, stumbling through some answers and failing to deliver some of the concise lines that he has deployed on the stump.

-The Obama campaign is already out with a video questioning the veracity of some of Romney's claims.

-In case you missed it, here's a rundown of what happened in the debate. Nothing new here: Romney called for lower taxes, repealing Obamacare, preserving military spending and letting the free market govern health care -- for example, by giving seniors Medicare vouchers.

-To watch: It's still unclear how much a single debate performance can sway voters, but it can certainly generate another form of support. Keep an eye out for how much Romney is able to fundraise off his strong showing.

-Romney is in Virginia with Paul Ryan today, appearing at a 6:45 p.m. rally in Fisherland.

-Republican outside groups are being outspent 2 to 1 by liberal groups like labor unions and environmental advocates in Congressional races, an analysis found.
