He was unaware of exactly why the woman he loves had married and was planning to leave town with Dario. Now, as Abigail’s life hangs in the balance following a hit-and-run accident, Chad will finally be informed of the truth on the Wednesday, Aug. 2 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Gabi (Camila Banus) had previously informed Chad that Abigail (Marci Miller) was leaving town with Dario (Jordi Villasousa) as a part of the Witness Protection deal he struck with the police so he wouldn’t have to pay for his own crimes on the NBC soap. Chad was livid that Abigail would just disappear and abandon their son again, so he went to confront the couple. Abigail swore to him that she was doing it to protect him, but before she had a chance to tell him what she meant, a car came right towards him, and she pushed him out of the way and was struck instead. Now, as she goes in for a risky surgery to try and save her life, Gabi will inform Chad of the information she wasn’t able to tell him before.

When Gabi went to tell Chad about Abigail leaving Salem, he rushed out before she could finish, and she was unable to tell him that Abigail’s decision to marry Dario wasn’t one based on love or companionship. Now, she will tell him that the union was simply an arrangement to help Dario stay in the country and keep him from being deported back to Mexico, where a drug lord was waiting to kill him if he ever crossed the border again. Knowing this information now could change things for Chad, because while he and Abigail had divorced and he was moving on with Gabi, the accident and this new information could change his mind as he realizes his heart is still with the mother of his child.

However, even with the information, there is nothing he can do now but sit and wait, along with Abigail’s other loved ones, as they hope that she can make it through the surgery and come back to them. Chad may not only be hopeful she makes it through for both their son’s sake and because of what he is realizing is in his heart, but also because he wants the rest of the story behind Abigail’s decision to leave, especially now that he knows the marriage wasn’t a real one.

What Chad didn’t know was that Dario had blackmailed Abigail into leaving town with him, because she was ready to call their marriage off after realizing the crimes he had committed, including ones against Chad’s own company. However, Dario had a photo that showed Chad leaning over Deimos’ (Vincent Irizarry) dead body, with his hand on the knife that killed him. He threatened that if Abigail didn’t go with him, he would make sure the cops found the image, and Chad would be arrested for murder.

If Abigail can’t make it out of surgery though, Chad may never learn the truth about just how much she actually loved him, and the lengths she was willing to go to keep him safe.
