She is finally awake and up to speed about everything that has happened since she was shot on her wedding day. Now, Marlena will have a shocking flash of memory from that day which could wind up changing everything on the Thursday, Oct. 4 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Since Marlena (Deidre Hall) was shot, the general thought process has been that Sami (Alison Sweeney) was the one responsible, as she and Eric (Greg Vaughan) were wrestling for control of the gun at the time on the NBC soap. She only had a gun because Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) had thrown it to her and taunted her that if she shot John (Drake Hogestyn) she would tell her where EJ was. In the struggle as a drugged Sami made up her mind, the gun went off and hit Marlena instead.

However, Marlena is finally awake and out of the coma she went into when she began suffering from septic shock, and now, as she gets caught up on everything else that has happened with Kristen and Sami both being back in Salem, she will have a flash of memory about that day. However, what she has to share will be something no one ever expected to hear.

Marlena will admit to John that she remembers seeing something—and potentially someone—else beyond where anyone else that day may have been able to. While Sami was at the forefront and most definitely seemed like the most logical person to have fired off a shot, she actually may not have done so. In fact, her mother will reveal that she remembered seeing someone else in the background, behind all of the assembled wedding guests, who was also pointing a gun, and she thinks that is the one that went off and resulted in her injuries.

That new development will be startling, because it means the police also have to search a suspect in addition to Kristen, but it will also be good news for Sami, because if she is no longer the prime suspect, she will be free to finally do what she wants most—see if Kristen lied to her, and if not, find EJ once more.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
