They’ve been kept apart because she was shot on their wedding day, and now, after a strange and bizarre turn of events, John and Marlena will finally have their chance to reunite on the Tuesday, Oct. 2 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Since their wedding, which saw Marlena (Deidre Hall) shot following Kristen’s (Stacy Haiduk) crashing the festivities, things have not been well for Salem’s golden couple on the NBC soap. Marlena came out of surgery and seemed fine until she began to suffer from Septic Shock, which left her on a ventilator. Then, Belle (Martha Madison) found her advanced directive to keep her off life support, and a battle ensued to save her life. A quick ploy by John (Drake Hogestyn), Roman (Josh Charles) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) worked to get Marlena out of harm’s way, with Hattie (also Hall) then posing as her and making a miraculous recovery by waking up from her coma.

Since then, Hattie demanded John marry her in order to keep her from exposing the truth, and Kristen learned that Marlena was not yet dead. In fact, just as Marlena finally woke up for real, Kristen arrived in her secret hospital room with a gun, ready to finish her off. Now, with Kayla standing over her as protectively as possible, Kristen is struggling with Roman for the gun.

However, though things don’t look so good still for everyone involved, DOOL spoilers tease that John’s prayers are answered. This seems to hint at things boding well for him and Marlena in terms of their being reunited, and neither one receiving the bullet from Kristen this time around.

Of course, even if she doesn’t successfully shoot anyone, if Kristen manages to once again get away before she can be apprehended by the police, there will still be extreme danger in town for the golden couple, as she fully intends to kill Marlena. In addition, Marlena could drop a bombshell on her loved ones by revealing that she doesn’t think the bullet that hit her came from the gun Kristen gave Sami (Alison Sweeney)—and that there was a secret second shooter hiding in the background and just waiting to strike.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
