  • Cristiano Ronaldo has one year left on his Man Utd contract
  • He had wanted to leave the club this summer
  • The 2022 summer market will end Thursday

Erik ten Hag has said he and Cristiano Ronaldo are on "the same page" over the Portuguese forward's role at Manchester United.

Ronaldo, who still has a year left on his contract with Manchester United, wanted to leave the Old Trafford side this summer. But nothing has materialized for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner before the summer market deadline day, which falls on Thursday.

Ahead of Manchester United's Premier League trip to Leicester, Ten Hag said Ronaldo was committed to being a Red Devil.

"We are happy with him, he's happy to be here and we want to make the season a success together. From the start, we said we planned with him. It's your vision, not my vision. We are all on one page," Ten Hag was quoted by Man Utd's website.

Ronaldo, who was Manchester United's top scorer last season with 24 goals, has started only one out of the team's four league games.

When reporters quizzed Ten Hag about Ronaldo's position in the side, the Dutch manager replied, "You can see in training that it is clear that he has the capabilities. He will fit in because ... I don't have to explain. He's a great player. He will fit in every system or every style. That's why we are talking; I said we are on one page. He knows what the demands are."

Ten Hag also confirmed Manchester United were not going to buy more players in the final hours of the deadline day once the deals of forward Antony and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka were completed.

Manchester United have reached a $94 million agreement with Ajax for Antony, while Dubravka is close to joining them on a season-long loan from Newcastle. He will be David de Gea's No. 2 at Old Trafford.

"For this window, it will be the end. You always have to be alert at a top club. But we will go from September to minimum January with this squad," Ten Hag said, BBC Sport reported.

With two wins and two losses, Manchester United are currently placed 12th in the 2022-23 Premier League table. Their victories came against Liverpool FC (2-1) and Southampton (1-0).
