A report suggesting that there was a showdown between Ben Affleck and his former wife Jennifer Garner at the Vanity Fair’s Oscar party on Sunday night was termed false by Gossip Cop Monday. The report of the showdown between the two was first reported by Radar Online, saying that the couple saw but ignored each other initially at the event.

The Radar Online report said that the couple came face-to-face after Garner talked about Affleck in an interview to Vanity Fair last week. In the interview, she also slammed the 28-year-old nanny Christine Ouzounian, who was said to be dating Affleck while he was still married.

“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives,” Garner had told Vanity Fair adding: “I have had to have conversations about the meaning of ‘scandal.’”

Radar Online reported, citing an eyewitness, “They spotted each other,” adding: “Ben didn't even come over to say hello!” The source also told Radar Online that Garner in turn preferred to stay close to her former “Alias” costar Vincent Garber.

The source continued: “Ben finally did sheepishly make his way over to Jennifer just before she left the party,” adding: “He gave her a hug, but she was super cold and left right afterward. They had ignored each other for almost two hours prior to that.”

On the contrary, a report by People said, citing another source, that Garner and Affleck “had a nice moment where they caught up and a lot of their friends were there – and they chatted and then they left.” However, the report also added that when they arrived they were initially interacting with others than each other, despite standing just a few feet away.

The Gossip Cop held up the report by People magazine to say that the publication’s source was accurate on what happened, slamming Radar Online's report of a showdown. The latest report by Gossip Cop comes after it debunked rumors suggesting that Garner and Affleck had got back together and that Garner was pregnant with his child.

The couple had been married since 2005 and have three children together. They announced their divorce last June.
