Dita Von Teese knows a lot about corsets, but that doesn't mean the burlesque dancer is onboard with the latest waist training trend. Von Teese recently opened up about the new fitness craze and slammed Kim Kardashian and her sisters for promoting waist trainers.

"I think it's funny because I'm watching and it's like the blind leading the blind," the 43-year-old model told HuffPostLive.

Von Teese said she thinks it’s "fun" to wear corsets and encouraged women to try it but cautioned them from jumping on the waist trainer bandwagon. She also warned that a lot of the trainers might not work as promised.

“People that actually know a lot about corsetry are not the ones that are publicly speaking about it," she explained. "And I’m seeing some of those corsets that they’re saying are waist shapers and I’m like, ‘That doesn’t work.’ They’re like stretchy fabric.”

She continued, “It seems to be a fast fix. If you put on a corset and you pull the strings tight, you instantly have this silhouette and it’s great -- but it’s not going to modify your body if you’re not engaged in the serious regimen of it.”

Waist training has become wildly popular thanks to celebrities such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Amber Rose and Jenni "JWoww" Farley.

Jessica Alba even admitted to Net-A-Porter that she "wore a double corset day and night for months" to help her slim down.

In May, VH1 chatted with PreMadonna, founder of Waist Gang Society, to talk about the waist training phenomena. PreMadonna's products can be seen on a number of celebrities, including the Kardashian sisters.

The designer said woman can notice a difference in their waist after only wearing the product for a few days.

“You can waist train for three days and you can lose some inches on your waist and actually lose belly fat as well,” she said.
