  • The "Blended" star shared that co-parents should be united for their kids

Drew Barrymore has nothing but love for her ex-husband Will Kopelman and his new wife, Alexandra Michler.

On Wednesday's episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show," the host shared how she spent the Halloween weekend. According to Barrymore, she was with her ex and his new wife.

"I went trick-or-treating on Sunday with Will and his beautiful wife Allie, my daughters' wonderful stepmother. I think honestly this is so ideal," she shared on her eponymous show. "It is the dream. I loved seeing this, I really do. It’s very positive…Because you are never not together if you have children. All the modern family and exes aside, you are just parents. That’s what makes sense to me."

She added, "I say this, just trying to put one foot in front of the other with a lot of love and good intentions: High road, baby. Less traffic."

Barrymore and Kopelman were married in 2012, but they divorced four years later. The exes share daughters Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7.

It's not the first time Barrymore talked about Kopelman and his new wife, Michler. In September, the "Blended" star said she worshipped his new love when she appeared on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast.

At the time, Barrymore said Kopelman married again to the "most amazing woman." She described Michler as an "incredible woman," adding that she felt like she won the lottery because a "beautiful soul" came into their lives.

Barrymore added that she didn't try to be Michler's best friend, but the latter was aware that "I absolutely worship the ground she walks on, and I'm her biggest cheerleader."

Barrymore, Kopelman, and his new wife usually go to dinners with all of their kids on their birthdays. She also hinted that they were planning to take a trip together in the future.

For Barrymore, it's important to be on good terms with Kopelman's wife because she would be their children's stepmother. Also, their kids would be spending time with their dad and his new wife.

In related news, Barrymore was not the only celebrity to spend Halloween with her ex-husband. Jennifer Garner did the same thing this year.

The "Miracles from Heaven" star reunited with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, and his girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, for trick-or-treat in Malibu over the weekend. An unnamed source said that they all wanted their kids to enjoy the event. Garner and Affleck's children are friends with Lopez's kids and they wanted to go trick-or-treating together, so it just made sense that they all went together.
