A man was arrested in Spain when he tried to smuggle drugs through an airport under his toupee.

The 65-year-old man was traveling from Bogotá, Colombia, on June 18 when he was stopped by police at an airport in Barcelona. Officers noticed the man appeared nervous as he passed through security. They also noticed an ill-fitting toupee stuffed underneath the man’s hat, prompting them to conduct a thorough search.

“His toupee was very curious, but the agents there are experts and pay attention to the attitude,” Spanish National Police told press.

During the search, police found out why the toupee didn’t fit properly. Hidden under the hat was a package filled with more than 500 grams of cocaine. The package was stuck to the man’s head and found to value roughly 30,000 euros ($34,000).

“There is no limit to the inventiveness of drug traffickers trying to mock controls,” police said in a statement.

The drug mule was promptly taken into custody by National Police for drug possession.

Police have withheld his identity and not released any un-edited pictures. However, they did post an image of his mugshot on Twitter with his eyes blacked out.

The man is being charged with a crime against public health.

In 2012, a 33-year-old Panamanian woman was arrested at a Barcelona airport after a flight from Bogota for smuggling cocaine in breast implants.
