KEY POINTS

  • "Dying Light 2's" New Game+ mode will introduce more difficulty options
  • Players get to enjoy extra Inhibitor caches and legendary loot drop boosts in the mode
  • Players can still join co-op sessions with others who have not finished the story yet

Update 1.3.0 for “Dying Light 2” will introduce one of the most-requested features: New Game+.

The new patch, which is due April 27, will integrate new ways for players to enjoy the game even after finishing the main story. This includes the New Game+ mode, which will let players start again while carrying over all of their character’s progress.

In this mode, difficulty will automatically scale according to the player’s level while also opening up even more difficulty options for the most hardcore of survivors. Some encounters will feature new and unexpected enemy behaviors as well.

To level the playing field against the tougher zombies, players will be able to collect 30 more Inhibitors to increase max health and stamina. Drop rates for legendary-tier loot will also be increased.

There is only one real limitation: Nightrunner tools like the paraglider and grappling hook will still be locked behind story progress. The decision was made to ensure that the flow of the story would not get messed up, as per a developer statement.

New Game+ will not restrict players from joining co-op sessions with their friends. Anyone on their second playthrough will still be able to join other players even if they have not finished the story on their saves yet.

Players can expect more parkour-related medals and challenges, including Platinum medals and race goals based on community timers.

Lastly, Update 1.3.0 will introduce a slew of bug fixes for co-operative play alongside an FOV slider in the options menu for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

Going past this update, Techland plans to support “Dying Light 2” with free and paid DLCs. There’s already a content road map available on Twitter, but the devs said they are open to DLC ideas from the community.

There are currently two story-related DLCs and the usual barrage of weapons and events. In their latest Dying 2 Know video, Techland teased that they were working on plenty of things behind the scenes, but they refused to elaborate further.
