KEY POINTS

  • Nighttime boosts all XP gained by a considerable amount
  • Always look for ways to traverse the environment via parkour to maximize XP earned per minute
  • Side activities are great for earning loads of XP and items

There are plenty of things that players can do in “Dying Light 2’s” massive city, but most of the interesting abilities that Aiden can perform are locked behind XP walls. These can be naturally unlocked over time, but players who want to have the most fun as quickly as possible can actively maximize their XP gains for faster leveling.

Here are a few tips on how to gain levels as fast as possible without resorting to bug or glitch abuse.

Go Out at Night

Like the first game, players can gain the most XP when fighting and exploring at night. However, this does open them up to all of the threats that every NPC in the game warns them about. Howlers, Demolishers, Virals, Volatiles and all other manners of monsters are most active at night, which makes every run significantly more dangerous.

Still, braving the dark will reward players with double XP from everything they do. Just make sure to have a solid escape route and enough stamina to escape.

Increase Stamina ASAP

Speaking of stamina, players will want to increase their stamina as soon as they can. Though it falls a bit under preference, stamina is arguably more important than HP because it can let players avoid taking damage altogether.

More stamina means players can traverse the city more efficiently, dodge more frequently and ultimately reach places that would otherwise be inaccessible with a low stamina pool. This won’t necessarily contribute much XP, but it’s a worthy investment for the later stages of the game, so consider grabbing stamina upgrades when getting a new inhibitor from a GRE facility.

Complete Side Activities

Apart from the main story quests and random exploration, side activities also offer excellent rewards in the form of items and XP. There are tons of side missions available across Villedor, and most of them can be unlocked by activating the many Windmills scattered around the regions.

Parkour Everywhere

Since Parkour XP is earned by performing any sort of agile movement, it’s best to run, jump, vault and slide everywhere that players can. This tip is easy to overlook, but the XP adds up tremendously over time, and it goes hand-in-hand with the rest of the game’s mechanics, from the combat to the side quests and exploration.

The same idea applies to combat, but with the inherent dangers of zombies and other people as well as weapon durability degradation, it’s best to pick fights wisely.
