Eight K-Pop Artists Claim Spots On Billboard's World Albums Chart This Week
K-pop continues its meteoric rise with more musicians becoming recognized in the international scene, especially in the U.S. This week, eight K-pop musicians have claimed spots on Billboard's World Albums Chart.
Boyband Seventeen's "Attacca" album debuted No. 1 on this week's chart. Fresh from releasing their new mini album, Seventeen also sits atop Billboard's Top Album Sales chart and Top Current Album Sales chart, Soompi reported.
"Attacca" debuted at No. 13 on Billboard 200 last week. The chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S.
The launch of their new album also paved the way for the group to re-enter Billboard's Artist 100 at No. 10.
Six tracks from "Attacca" entered Billboard's World Digital Song Sales Chart this week: "Rock With You" debuted at No. 5, "To You" is placed at No. 15, "2 Minus 1" sits at No. 18, "Crush" at No. 19, "Imperfect Love" at No. 22 and "I Can't Run Away" at No. 25.
"Attacca's" carrier track, "Rock With You," has reached 38 million views on YouTube since it premiered in the last week of October.
Meanwhile, another boyband is also making waves on Billboard's World Albums Chart. NCT 127's latest studio album, "Sticker," climbed up to No. 2 on its sixth week on the chart.
The album is also at No. 106 on Top 200 Albums chart after spending a total of six weeks in the tally.
NCT 127 last week launched their comeback album, "Favorite," which is categorized by Billboard as a deluxe version of "Sticker." When it was first released in September, "Sticker" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and it remained on the chart for every week since then, this report said.
Rookie of the Year boyband, ENHYPEN, also placed their entry on the World Albums Chart with their first studio album, "Dimension: Dilemma," which is ranked at No. 3 this week. The album is already on the second week on the Billboard 200 chart following its release in October.
Of course, global sensation BTS would not be outdone as its 2020 album "Map Of The Soul: 7" landed on this week's World Albums Chart at No. 6. It is followed by the albums "BE" at No. 8, "Love Yourself: Answer" at No. 10 and "Love Yourself: Tear" at No. 13.
BTS' labelmate TXT also claimed a spot on the World Albums Chart with the album "The Chaos Chapter: Freeze" sitting at No. 9. The group continues to hold the title as the longest-charting K-pop album of 2021 after spending a total of 22 weeks on the chart.
Girl group Itzy's "Crazy In Love" album is ranked No. 11 on the chart, followed by Blackpink's "The Album," which came in at No. 12 this week. Launched in October 2020, "The Album" is now on its 56th week on the World Albums Chart.
2NE1 alum CL's hip hop album "Alpha" debuted at No. 15 on the chart following its release last month.
