The year 2016 was a spectacular one for K-pop band EXO, as the Chinese-South Korean group dominated sales charts and also broke an awards record.

The band — consisting of members Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai and Sehun — sold 2.13 million albums in 2016, with “EX’ACT” and “Lotto” together selling 1.17 million copies and “For Life” bringing in another 425,000 copies. Subgroup within the band EXO-CBX’s mini-album “Hey, Mama!” sold 276,000 copies while Lay’s first album “Lose Control” was credited with another 260,000 copies.

As of Dec. 27, 2016, the group’s last three albums have sold over one million copies each, getting them the title of a “triple million seller,” Official K Music reported.

The band’s members also collaborated with other big names in the industry. EXO collaborated with Yoo Jae Suk for the song “Dancing King,” while Baekhyun teamed up with Miss A’s Suzy to release the single “Dream.” The band’s rapper Chanyeol featured in Far East Movement’s “Freal Love” and Chen’s “Everytime” featured in the smash hit drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin also lent their voice to “Scarlet Heart: Goryeo” OST “For You,” while Chanyeol teamed up with Punch for “Stay With Me,” the OST of popular ongoing drama “Goblin.”

EXO also won Album of the Year at the Golden Disk Awards, a feat the band has accomplished for the fourth year in a row. This is reportedly the first time an artist has won the “Daesang” four years in a row after the boy band broke legendary South Korean artist Kim Gun Mo’s record of three straight wins from 1994 to 1996.

The group is embarking on its latest and largest tour yet with “EXO PLANET #3 – THE EXO’RDIUM IN MANILA,” which will take place Feb. 25-26.
