Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have not agreed upon a fitting deal for Spider-Man’s future with the latter, but the character will definitely be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. A scene in “Avengers: Endgame” has been pinpointed as a good measurement for how Tom Holland’s character can still be a part of the MCU in the future.

That scene, according to Vox, was when the Avengers were running with the Iron Gauntlet. Hawkeye was the first to hold on to it, followed by Black Panther, who then passes it to Spider-Man. Afterwards, Captain Marvel comes in to receive the Iron Gauntlet from the beleaguered superhero.

Fans see this as more than just a scene where their favorite heroes come together. To them, Marvel created the scene to explain how Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Captain Marvel are going to “save the day” yet again in place of the old cadre of heroes. People know about Tony Stark’s heroism. Steve Rogers passed on his shield to Sam Wilson, another member of the new Avengers. Thor is currently saving the galaxy as part of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Sony and Marvel have failed to come into a favorable agreement since then, throwing a wrench into how Spider-Man will be a part of Marvel’s movie universe moving forward. A statement by Sony revealed that they still plan to use Kevin Feige’s inputs in their movies, which will hopefully include involving Spider-Man in the MCU one way or another.

There have been reports that due to the importance Marvel puts into Spider-Man and depending on how any re-negotiations will commence a new Spider-Man film will arrive in 2021. Screen Rant covered any possible future Spider-Man storylines these films could explore.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” has already explored Mysterio’s introduction into the MCU as a disillusioned tech-savvy person who stole Stark Tech for his evil and selfish plans. It ended with Spider-Man being outed by J. Jonah Jameson, reprised — to the delight of fans — by original “Jameson” actor J.K. Simmons. This could continue to be the focal point of the next movie.

There are also storylines that could focus on the legacy of Tony Stark’s mentoring of the young Peter Parker, as well as his future with the new breed of Avengers. All of these hinges on whether Sony and Marvel could come back to the table and come up with favorable terms for both sides to save Spidey’s MCU inclusion.
